Subject: Update on Spring 2020 Refunds Related to COVID-19

I hope this message reaches you well. By now, you have probably seen President Byerly’s message to the community regarding partial refunds for room and board costs. This update addresses how these policies affect study abroad.

As you know, students on Lafayette College faculty-led engineering study abroad programs are charged Lafayette College Tier 1 room charges, 20-meal plan board, and Lafayette College tuition.

Room and Board

Students on Lafayette College faculty-led programs will receive the partial refund for room and board as outlined in President Byerly’s email. This refund represents not only unused room and board expenses, but also recoverable non-tuition costs from canceled excursions and other activities.

Tuition

Students are earning a full semester’s worth of Lafayette College credit through distance learning. While the delivery of course content is not how anyone imagined it, it is parallel to the experience of our on-campus students. The study abroad tuition refund policy aligns with the College’s.

We hope that this message provides some clarification. Please feel free to get in touch with any questions or concerns.
