Courses Abroad
Registering for courses you will take while abroad:
Once you are accepted to a program you will have to choose the courses you will take and have them pre-approved by the appropriate Department Head at Lafayette, obtaining the proper signatures on the Affiliated Off Campus/Study Abroad Authorization Petition. If your program does not allow you to select or register for classes until you are on site, just follow the instructions below.
Changes in your proposed courses:
If you are not able to take one or more of the classes you had petitioned for before departure (due to a scheduling conflict, cancellation of the course or other reasons), you will need to contact your academic adviser at Lafayette. Before doing so, look over the course options open to you and put together a short list of your preferences; email this list to your adviser along with any questions or concerns you have.
If you need to count a class for a specific requirement or course, you will have to email the appropriate department head (with a copy to the Registrar) to see if any of your potential substitutions are acceptable. In order for the department head to make that decision, he or she will need a detailed course description and/or a syllabus, so please forward this information along with your request. Again, please cc the Registrar’s Office (registrar@lafayette.edu) on all correspondence relating to changes in your schedule while abroad.
