Grades
Grades
All grades earned abroad will transfer, and will be factored into your GPA. You may not take classes abroad Pass/Fail, nor will the Academic Progress Committee allow you to convert your letter grades to Pass/Fail retroactively.
Please be aware that grades from non-Lafayette courses may not appear on your transcript for two or more months after the end of the program – this is standard operating procedure for many foreign universities, and we have no power to change it. PLEASE BE PATIENT
Also keep in mind the fact that assessment of academic performance in other countries can be quite different from the grading system used in the United States. If you direct-enroll in a foreign university, for example, you may find that your entire semester grade is based solely on the final exam, or one midterm and a final. You may also discover that A’s or their equivalents are MUCH harder to earn: in some countries it is assumed that merely passing a class is a mark of high achievement.
