Medical Insurance
Students who study abroad MUST be covered by medical insurance. Many semester and yearlong programs provide insurance for their students or require them to purchase a specific plan; these include programs run by AGE (Alliance for Global Education), Augsburg College, CC-CS (Center for Cross-Cultural Studies), DIS (Danish Institute for Study Abroad), IES, IFSA/Butler, Frontiers Abroad, SIT (School for International Training), St. Louis University and Sweet Briar.
For programs that do not include medical insurance or require a specific plan (including programs run by American University in Cairo, Boston University, College Year in Athens, Jacob’s University Bremen, Lingnan University, Macalester College, Pacific Lutheran University, Polish National Film School, School for Field Studies, St. Lawrence University, St. Olaf College, Syracuse University and Temple University), Lafayette College will provide coverage through Gallagher Koster. Students on these programs must enroll in this plan, and Lafayette will cover the cost of the premium. In order to be enroll you will have to submit personal information on an online form (you will receive a link via email).
For program details, go to www.gallagherkoster.com, select “Student Access” and choose Lafayette College from the drop down menu. On the left hand side, there are links to access all the plan information (FAQ, On Call International Information, etc).
If you do not see your program provider listed in one of the two preceding paragraphs, please email Michael Jordan at jordanm@lafayette.edu for more information.
Students studying off-campus within the United States should make sure that their current health insurance plan will cover them on their U.S. programs.
